Central Catholic to Induct Leonard J. Pasquarelli, ’68, Terrence M. Totten, ’76, into the Alumni Hall of Fame
PITTSBURGH -- Central Catholic High School proudly announces the induction of two distinguished individuals into its Alumni Hall of Fame. A graduate of the Class of 1968, Leonard “Len” Pasquarelli is a world-renowned sportswriter, and Terrence “Terry” Totten, from the Class of 1976, is Central Catholic's winningest football coach. Both men will be honored for their extraordinary contributions to the school. Len Pasquarelli, ’68, spent over 40 years as a sports journalist, nearly all spent covering the NFL. He wrote for several newspapers, most notably the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, before becoming a senior NFL reporter at CBS Sports and then ESPN. In addition to his ESPN writing duties, he made weekly national television and radio appearances. Among numerous writing commendations, Pasquarelli was twice honored nationally by the Associated Press for his reporting. He is a former two-term president of the Professional Football Writers of America, a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame player selection committee, and, in 2008, was inducted into the writer’s wing in Canton for “long and distinguished contributions to the profession.”
Terry Totten, ’76, will be honored for his dedication and commitment to transforming the lives of student-athletes. After a 21-year storied career as head football coach, Totten retired with an overall record of 188-40. Under his leadership, Central Catholic achieved two Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) state championships and six Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) titles. Central Catholic's football program achieved unprecedented success and has solidified his legacy as a coaching icon in Western Pennsylvania and beyond.
Len and Terry will be inducted during Central Catholic’s 34th Annual Viking Victory Auction at The Westin Pittsburgh on April 27.
