Pastoral Service
School-wide Masses are held on holy days of obligation, before major vacations and breaks, and on holy days important relevant to the history of the school or to the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. Weekday Mass is offered for students, faculty, and parents in the Brothers’ Chapel on Wednesday and Friday at 7:10 a.m. Every weekday one of the students on the Lasallian Ministry Executive Board leads the school in morning prayer.
Students have the opportunity to serve as ushers, lectors, liturgical musicians, and altar servers at the school-wide Masses. Each year, senior students apply and are selected as Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Communion. Because of Central’s physical proximity to St. Paul’s Cathedral, we frequently partner with its faith community. A cadre of students volunteers as altar servers for episcopal liturgies and funeral Masses.
During Advent and Lent, Central asks diocesan priests from students’ parishes to hear confessions at school-wide reconciliation services. Frs. George and Mark also hear confessions on an appointment basis, once a month, for interested students.
Central also offers Eucharistic Adoration on various Fridays throughout the school year during the school day in the Brother’s Chapel. Additionally, during Lent Stations of the Cross are offered in the Quad every Friday immediately following the school day.
