State Tax Credit Programs
Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) and Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC)
If you own or work for a business that pays Pennsylvania state taxes, the company can earn tax credits by providing tuition assistance for deserving Central Catholic students.
This year, over 200 Central Catholic students have received tuition assistance received through Pennsylvania’s EITC and OSTC programs. That is nearly 25% of our student body.
The programs have been instrumental in Central’s mission to provide an affordable Catholic Lasallian education to students from all socioeconomic backgrounds. EITC/OSTC funds make financial support available to students who might otherwise be unable to attend Central Catholic, and it provides participating companies with state tax credits of up to 90% of their contribution.
The application process is online. Visit the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development’s website for details on the application process and eligibility.
The State of Pennsylvania recently passed House Bill 91, which allows for the formation of Special Purpose Entities (SPE) for the sole purpose of participating in the EITC/OSTC programs. Individuals can form a Limited Liability Corporation (LLC) to take advantage of these tax credits. The LLC receives the credits and distributes them to members.
