Go Ahead, Make My DNA!
An Immersion into Biotechnology and the Molecule of Life
Students will engage in multiple hands-on experiments and related activities serving to elucidate the role of the Central Dogma in Biological Science and Society at large. Background on all aspects of DNA technology will be provided by means of short lectures, videos, educational songs, and guest presentations.
Labs and Activities Include:
- Recombinant DNA (Plasmid) Technology
- Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)
- Personal DNA extraction and purification
- Gel Electrophoresis Analysis (Crime Scene analysis + Genetic Disease analysis)
- Genomic Analysis (SNP’s, GWAS, Genomics, and Proteomics)
- Crspr Cas9 Technology
- DNA relay race
- PCR race

This workshop is open to 7th and 8th grade boys.
