Lasallian Ministry to Offer Five Service Immersion Trips This School Year
The five service immersion trips offers the chance for our young men to step outside their comfort zone and engage with people they might not otherwise meet.
Hello, Parents and Young Men of Central Catholic.
This year Lasallian Ministry is excited to offer five service immersion immersion trips. These trips are integral to Central’s mission of forming Men of Faith, Scholarship, and Service. Each trip offers the opportunity for our young men to step outside their comfort zone and engage with people they might not otherwise meet. The objectives of the trips are to promote understanding of Catholic social justice, learning to live simply, coming to a basic understanding of solidarity, and to directly serve a population in need.
Each trip is chaperoned by two or more Central Staff/Faculty. Students selected to go on the trips are excused from their classes. All service locations have had a long tradition of accepting short term service trips of high school students and provide guidance leading up to, during, and after the service immersion itself. These trips are more than just a few isolated days of service and they are not simply days off of school. The experiences ask students to wrestle with questions about faith, identity, suffering, privilege and solidarity.
We hope that your son will be able to come on one of the trips, as they can be life changing experiences. They offer opportunity for growth, brotherhood, and reflection that might not otherwise happen. You can find the application by clicking here. Each trip has a description, essay prompt, and info about payments, financial aid, and due dates. Please read the entire application. Applications for any of the trips are due on October 20 by 2:40 p.m.
More specific information will be made available about each trip once the group has been selected. If you have any question please don’t hesitate to reach out to either Mr. Goldcamp at kgoldcamp@centralcatholichs.com or Mr. Kinkley at jkinkley@centralcatholichs.com.
Sincerely,
Lasallian Ministry
