The Central Catholic Environmental Club was inspired to take action upon hearing Pope Francis’ encyclical on the environment, Laudato Si, where he asked us all to be protectors of Creation.
Mr. John Allen and Mr. David Wick, ’00, have been working with the club on implementing a recycling program and several environmental improvements to our campus. Tomorrow, recycling bins will be in effect in the McGinley Dining Hall. This first step aims to create dialogue among students and faculty and get everyone on board with doing their part in preserving our little piece of the Earth here at 4720 Fifth Avenue.
Additionally, Central Catholic is now a member of a local organization called the Green Business Alliance. This organization is proactive in sustainability, recycling, and environmental efforts in downtown Pittsburgh and Oakland. Mr. Wick is acting as our representative to this group.
