​Young Alumnus Spotlight: Meet Luke Roetter, '17

After spending approximately three months in United States Marine Corps. basic training in Parris Island, S.C., 2017 alumnus Luke Roetter stopped by Central Catholic before departing to pursue infantry school in Camp Lejune, N.C. for a month. Luke is pursuing a career in the United States Marine Corps., specializing in aircraft mechanics.

After infantry school in Camp Lejune, Luke will depart for Pensacola, Fla. to pursue Aircraft Mechanic specialty training. We caught up with Luke during his visit to Central:

Meet Luke Roetter, '17

Why did you choose to come to Central Catholic?

I went to Central Catholic because my brother came here. I remember watching him and I decided to follow in his footsteps.

How did Central Catholic help prepare you for the Marines?

Central Catholic instilled the good order and discipline that I needed whenever I got to boot camp. By the time I got there, I was prepared and would do what I was told. I didn't get in trouble at all.

What was your favorite class at Central Catholic?

My favorite class was Financial Algebra with Mr. Brown. Mr. Brown was an enjoyable teacher and the class helped prepare me to plan my own personal finances. It helped prepare me for the challenges ahead, and what to do and not to do with my money.

Why did you choose to join the Marines?

My grandfather was an Aircraft Mechanic during World War II, so I was inspired to do the same. I am the only person in my family who is in the Marines, everyone else in my family who has served in the military is in the Army.

What would you like to say to your former teachers?

Thank you to all of the teachers who helped prepare me for what was to come after Central.
