Quiz Bowl
At the high school level, NAQT quiz bowl is a competitive, academic, interscholastic activity for which players attend periodic practices and then represent their school at varsity tournaments.
Quiz bowl questions range over the entire spectrum of a typical high school curriculum, in addition to questions on current events, sports, and popular culture. The matches feature a blend of individual competition and team collaboration. Teams typically consist of four students and two alternates, and multiple teams can participate in each tournament. Quiz bowl can reinforce classroom lessons and encourage players to go beyond their assignments to master other areas as well.
Quiz bowl tournaments are held at Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh, as well as local high schools, throughout the year. Strong performances in local tournaments can lead to qualification for national tournaments at the end of the year. Students on the Quiz Bowl team also have the opportunity to participate in Hometown High Q on KDKA-TV.
Students in all grades are welcome to participate. All quiz bowl tournaments will be held on Saturdays, and practices are held in in the Lasallian Seminar Room in the Library every Friday from 3pm to 4pm.”
