"What a great race! It was an excellent start, with a strong base pace and a blazing sprint to hold off New Zealand and the British. I am so proud of Mike. Steel City grit. He and his crew have put in a tremendous amount of work, and it is wonderful to see it pay off in Paris.

It was a pleasure and an honor to coach Mike in high school. He was a scholastic national champion at Central Catholic and now he is an Olympic champion for the USA! His skill, determination, and drive were and are truly exceptional.
