Six Students Qualify for NSDA Nationals
On March 11, the Central Catholic Forensics Society competed at the NSDA Nationals Pittsburgh District Qualifiers. Central Catholic was awarded 1st Place in Speech Team Sweepstakes and took 3rd place in the overall team sweeps!
Eleven Central competitors were finalists in their respective events, with six CCFS members qualifying to attend NSDA Nationals in Phoenix this coming June. This represents our most significant number of Central Catholic students qualifying for "NSDA Nats" since the early 1970s!
Congratulations to the following CCFS competitors for earning a plane ticket to NSDA Nationals:
- Jack Sabo, '23 - 1st Place / District Champion / NSDA Qualifier - U.S. Extemp. and 2nd Place / International Extemp.
- Aidan Nicholas, '23 - 1st Place / District Champion / NSDA Qualifier - Humorous Interp.
- Amari Smith, '23 - 2nd Place / NSDA Qualifier - Program Oral Interp. and 3rd Place / 1st Alternate -Dramatic Interp.
- Matthew Evans, '25 - 2nd Place / NSDA Qualifier - Informative Speaking
- Luka DePasquale, '24 - 2nd Place / NSDA Qualifier - Dramatic Interp.
- Xavier Ramirez, '23 - 3rd place / NSDA Qualifier - International Extemp. and 4th Place / U.S. Extemp.
The CCFS will now double down on their practice efforts during a short week in preparation for the PHSSL PA H.S. State Championships, held on Friday and Saturday, March 17-18, at Bloomsburg University.
