Students Engage in Stem Cell Lab at Carnegie Mellon University
Central Catholic students regularly engage in lessons during field trips to local colleges and universities in the spirit of learning via real-world applications and practices!
On Friday, September 29, Mr. Krotec’s AP Biology and Bioengineering classes visited Carnegie Mellon University's biomedical engineering teaching lab to engage in a stem cell laboratory experience!
Students took part in an experiment designed to examine the effects of either an anti-inflammation drug or alcohol on the replication rate and differentiation behavior of myoblastic stem cells. In addition, they were able to test the cell seeding efficacy of a poly-lactic acid scaffold material.
