History & Social Sciences Department
The student's understanding of the role of history and his place within its framework are the major goals of the History and Social Sciences Department.
Through classroom activities emphasizing writing and critical thinking the department is consistently attempting to develop a sense of citizenship, aiding the student in the formulation of his political and social values, attitudes and beliefs, all informed by Lasallian principles. We recognize the need for students to develop the necessary skills to critically engage significant historical texts and the critical issues of the past and present and formulate a well-reasoned knowledge and understanding of these issues. Such a process is essential for our students to take their place in a democratic society.
